Billy Brown was born in El Paso, TX in the summer of 1954. His father, western author, and Hollywood stuntman J.P.S Brown took him to Mexico where he lived until he was six and eventually moved back to Pinetop, AZ. He played football, baseball, wrestled and ran track at Blue Ridge High School and helped form their High School Rodeo Team. After graduation in 1973 he spent time in Mexico as a professional baseball player and working with his father in movies as a stuntman. He was the stunt double for Steve McQueen in Tom Horn shortly before he enlisted in the USMC in 1979.
Billy attended boot camp at MCRD San Diego, CA and was stationed at MCAGCC 29 Palms, CA as a machine gunner and sniper. He met HOF Inductee Roy Madden who told him about the military rodeos. He would go on to compete for the 29 Palms Rodeo Team in BB, SB, BR, TDR, SW, and TR. Billy won the TR and AA at the 1979 29 Palms rodeo. In 1980, he won the Camp Pendleton SW and AA titles. Billy would travel to Hawaii in 1981 and win the SB title. He competed in the Yuma Jaycees World Military Championship Rodeo in 1981-1983 winning titles in the AA in 1981 and 1982 and the SB title in 1983. Billy was instrumental in the 29 Palms team winning the team championship for 1983.
After separating from the Marine Corp in 1983, Billy would return to Hollywood working as a stuntman in westerns such as The Lone Ranger, 3:10 to Yuma, Magnificent Seven, Django Unchained, and Cowboys and Aliens. He would also work on the television series The Young Riders. During the 1990’s he entertained European crowds as a touring member of the Euro Disney – Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show doing stunts during the Buffalo Chase scene. Billy currently lives with his wife Wendy in Moorpark, California.
