Bill Hiscock did not come from rodeo country. Born and raised in Livermore, ME he discovered rodeo as a teen and competed during high school in BB and SB. He joined the USMC in 1954 and attended boot camp at Paris Island, SC.
Military assignments at Quantico, VA, Camp Pendleton, CA, Kaneohe Bay, HI, Vietnam and Okinawa, Japan completed a 23-year career as an artillery Cannoneer in the USMC. Bill earned a Bronze Star, and Vietnam Service Medal on his tour in Vietnam. It was his time at Camp Pendleton that allowed him to shine in Military Rodeo.
While Bill would win rodeos in VA, HI, and CA. He seemed to treat the Camp Pendleton rodeo as his own personal play pen competing in BB, SB, BR, SW, and TR. Bill won the SB and AA title at Camp Pendleton in 1968, SB and AA in 1970, SB and AA in 1971, AA in 1972 and SW in 1984. He is by far the winningest cowboy at the Camp Pendleton rodeo. As his riding days began to wind down, Bill retired from the USMC and began building a rough stock heard and opened a practice arena in 1975.
The Fallbrook, CA practice facility became the favorite of military cowboys in southern CA to hone their skills. Bill operated this facility from 1975 to 1988. During this time, he also provided stock to events in San Diego, CA, March AFB, CA. In the late 1970’s Bill produced the Camp Pendleton rodeo twice.
