Scott McCloud was born to Carl and Charlene McCloud in 1968. He comes from a long line of Marines as his father and two uncles were USMC retirees, so it was natural for him to join the Marines in 1986. As an Infantryman he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, Paris Island, SC, Barstow, CA, 29 Palms, CA, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Iraq. Over a 21-year career he did tours as a Drill Instructor, NCO Academy Instructor and Mounted Color Guard earning a Meritorious Service Medal for service in the Iraq War.
Soon after arriving at Camp Pendleton, he was introduced to Military Rodeo and joined the Camp Pendleton Rodeo Team as a Bull Rider from 1987 to 1990. His military rodeo career included time in the Military Rodeo Assoc. (MRA) and the Military Rodeo Cowboys Assoc. (MRCA). He transitioned to Bullfighting and started working rodeos for several major stock contractors in Southern California. Scott was selected as the MRCA World Finals Bullfighter in 1995, 1996, and 1997.
In 1998 Scott founded the Military Bull Riders Assoc. (MBR) and Red Clay Rodeo Co. Starting with a handful of bulls, he grew his heard and provided bulls to rodeos in California and Nevada. He successfully produced the MBR Finals 1998 through 2000.
After retiring from service in 2007 and moving to Los Chavez, NM, Scott began to compete again focusing on timed events in the New Mexico Rodeo Assoc. (NMRA) and the Professional Armed Forces Rodeo Assoc. (PAFRA). He was the PAFRA Steer Wrestling Rookie of the Year in 2010 and Reserve World Champion in Steer Wrestling 2010 through 2012. Scott hit his stride in 2012 winning the PAFRA Chute Dogging World title and then nailed it again in 2013 along with the All-Around title. Showing the breadth of his skills, Scott was the PAFRA Reserve World Champion Tie Down Roper in
2015.
