Jack Walker is the son of PRCA World Champion SB rider Enoch Walker and Molly Walker. From his earliest days in Montana, he seemed destined to compete in rodeo. He placed 3rd in BB High School Rodeo in 1980 and went to the National High School Rodeo Finals he later attended college at Dawson Community College and competed in college rodeo until joining the USMC.
Jack’s military career did not take a normal path. He enlisted in the USMC in 1982 and served till 1986 as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with postings at Court House Bay, NC, Camp Pendleton, CA, and Okinawa Japan. He left active duty and went to active reserves. He later transferred to the USA reserves in 1997 and served in Iraq. His Army days came to an end after a truck accident in Iraq caused a medical discharge in 2003.
Jack discovered Military Rodeo while at Camp Pendleton in 1983. He would compete in BB, SB and BR for the next three years winning SB at Camp Pendleton rodeo in 1984 and 1985, BB, SB and AA at Buckeye, AZ in 1984, BB, SB, and AA at Camp LeJeune, NC in 1985. Jack won the MRA Finals SB Average in 1985 enroute to the SB and AA World Championships. He would return to the finals in 1986 to become the first military cowboy to earn three championships in a single year, winning the World Championship in BB, SB, and AA. He was also the rough stock coach for the Camp Pendleton Rodeo Team. Jack was also an active PRCA BB rider and won rodeos in Tehachapi, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, and Frazier Park, CA.
In 1986 Jack and his wife Karen returned to Montana to ranch and kept involved in Military Rodeo by judging at the 1996 and 1998 MRCA World Finals Rodeo. He was a Diesel Mechanic and worked for the Army Area Maintenance Support Activity.
